Designing Rubrics for Teaching, Grading & Assessment
Deandra Little, TRC Assistant Director & Associate Professor (English)

Rubrics offer one way to communicate grading standards and criteria clearly, objec-tively and effectively. They can also serve as a teaching tool, helping students under-stand how their work is being evaluated, as well as help you more quickly and systematically assess student learning. In this interactive session, we’ll discuss the whys and hows of rubrics used for these various purposes—including how to avoid common pitfalls—and begin creating a sample rubric.

All school and program Assessment Coordinators, as well as interested faculty and staff, are invited to attend.

Sponsored by the Teaching Resource Center and UVa Institutional Assessment & Studies
