Demystifying Dissertation Writing (for graduate students)
Peg Boyle Single, Ph.D., Author Demystifying Dissertation Writing: A Streamlined Process from Choice of Topic to Final Text
; Advice columnist for Inside Higher Education and academic writing coach, www.pegboylesingle.com

Writing a dissertation is the final task required to earn a doctoral degree. Yet, all too often the process of writing a dissertation is not addressed in formal coursework. In this workshop for doctoral students, Dr. Single draws on 15 years of experience working with academic writers to present a practical, motivational, and humorous talk. She presents a system for developing habits of fluent writing that starts with taking useful notes and ends with a defended dissertation. In addition, Dr. Single emphasizes the importance of working on the dissertation with writing partners, either as part of an informal writing group or formal writing seminar.
