Engaging
Students for Long-Term Learning
A
Conversation with Brian Balogh (History), Dennis Proffitt
(Psychology), Jeffrey Holt (Mathematics), and Ralph Allen
(Chemistry)
This
conversation focuses on engaging students in such a way that they learn
for the long term, rather than for the upcoming quiz, exam, paper. These
four colleagues will briefly share one or two of their approaches, strategies,
and/or techniques to promote deep learning rather than surface learning.
Their ideas will serve as a springboard to talk about participants' concerns
and ideas.
NOTE:
A streaming video of this workshop is available to the UVa community.
