Promoting Deep Learning and Thinking: Ways Faculty can Assist Students

Jim Eison, Founding Director, Center for Teaching Enhancement, University of South Florida

Faculty commonly report struggling to teach ever-expanding course content while maximizing students' learning. Concern about the quality of life and work required in the 21st century, on the other hand, leads others to remember Einstein's assertion, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." This workshop will show how to address both sets of challenges by using active learning strategies that stimulate students' creativity while covering course material.
