Roberto Armengol
Graduate Student Associate

Roberto Armengol, a PhD Candidate in sociocultural anthropology, recently returned from eighteen months of fieldwork in Havana, Cuba. Funded by a Fulbright grant, his research explores the changing nature of entrepreneurship and everyday life under socialism. Also a journalist, Roberto has taught courses on media studies, language and culture, nationalism, and political anthropology. Currently he is helping lead a seminar on technology and democracy for first-year engineering majors. Roberto enjoys pizza on Fridays with his family and volunteering as an assistant teacher at his daughter's cooperative preschool, where he has learned that many of the same techniques used in undergraduate teaching also apply to 4-year-olds.
