Student Suggestion

Introducing students to each other in class at the beginning of the semester (e.g. via a "get acquainted" activity) can greatly increase student participation in discussion sections. Undergraduates note that they feel less intimidated when they have had some sort of brief informal interaction with their classmates prior to discussing course-related material.
